Across from what is known as The Castle (right) is what is known as the visitor center to Capitol Reef. Our sixth national park on the trip’s list is basically a drive-thru for us, owing to time and the difficulty of riding gravel roads to see some of the more spectacular portions of the park, such as Cathedral Valley to the north. And besides, after Grand Canyon, Arches and Canyonlands, going out of our way to see less breathtaking sites would have amounted to been-there, done-that touring.
