To our astonishment, we drove past a number of cyclists trudging their way up to the 9,600-foot summit. The terrain isn’t as rough as you might expect for such a height; the climb from the valleys of Torrey is only 2,600 feet and smooth, topping out on a gently sloping highland. Come to think of it, maybe even an experienced cyclist like me could handle it. Maybe.
