The Navajo Life
Mile 1,130, Ganado, AZ
As we drive into the heart of Navajo Nation, I can’t help but feel guilty over a group of people who have basically become second-class citizens, and whose only way of making big money is through gaming. Pictured here is the typical home within the Navajo reservation: A makeshift housing structure, an accompanying trailer, a basketball court, a decent pick-up truck and, last but not least (and not visible here), a satellite dish. By sharp contrast, we did notice how remarkably upscale the schools looked as we drove through this and other Native American reservations.
