Standin’ on a Corner in Winslow, Arizona

We took it easy off the Interstate and investigated Winslow on old Route 66, coming upon a statue dedicated to a single lyric from an Eagles song that made the town quasi-famous. “Dust in the Wind” would have been a more appropriate tribute. Winslow’s downtown redevelopment apparently starts and stops at this corner, surrounded by swirling dirt and enough scary-looking motels that would make Norman Bates feel at home.
