Walking distance from the Visitor Center, Mather Point is, as expected, the most popular viewpoint on the South Rim. It’s where bumper-to-bumper traffic on the main road becomes commonplace by noon; the pedestrian traffic is evident at one of two observation points here and provides appropriate scale to the canyon walls beyond.
