Half Dome, Full Effort
Yosemite National Park, CA
Michelle looks out at a silhouette of Half Dome, Yosemite’s single most popular face; she once climbed the back of it, all the way to the top—and wishes to do so again. Me? No thanks, I’ll watch from below. This is as good a shot as I could muster of Half Dome, and it was hardly for a lack of effort. We tried the famous lookout point that shows almost the whole of the valley, but we aborted the effort when traffic was stopped and emergency vehicles tried to pry past; a final stab at a vantage point leaving the park also failed because construction crews had that lookout closed.
