We split time in the Mandalay pool area between the lazy river and the wave pool, shown here. The routine is a little strange; the lifeguards, the behavior of a few of whom border on Nazism, make you go some 50 feet out behind a blue line, and that’s where you wait for the next wave. Weather-wise, we caught a major break; the high temperature on this early August day in Vegas was 90, 15 degrees below the seasonal average.
