Lake Mead
Mile 2,396, Boulder City, NV
Lake Mead was a man-made creation after the Colorado River was backed up behind Hoover Dam. It now serves as a major recreational area for water sports enthusiasts of all kinds—so long as the lake level stays high (it doesn’t look too healthy at this stage). The electrical towers in the foreground don’t make the scene picturesque, but remember that they’re all connected to the dam, just a few miles away.
