The view from our 32nd-floor room at Mandalay Bay. I first visited Vegas in 2005, and it’s grown even since then; the monstrosity beyond the NYNY receiving the finishing touches is CityCenter, MGM Mirage’s massive attempt at a city within a city—complete with three hotels, one residential tower, a shopping center, a monorail, a fire station and a theater that will house a Cirque du Soliel show featuring the music of Elvis. (We visit a completed CityCenter in our return here in 2011.)
