From Concrete to Water
Zion National Park, UT
For many of those like us taking the Riverside Walk, the road ends here. The paved, brick-lined walk cedes to the narrowing canyon and the Virgin River; from here, you need a good pair of water shoes, which we neglected to pack. It’s too bad, because the sights beyond, with the canyon narrowing far closer than you see here, are said to be pretty dramatic. Speaking of drama, should a cloudburst from an intense thunderstorm shape up beyond this spot, walls of water as high as 12 feet high have been known to come shooting down this canyon.
