For me, a long trip doesn’t necessarily begin right when you hit the road, but when you reach the moment where you feel the true freedom of the trip ahead. Most of the drive up to this point was road I often ride; when we left behind the cool Bay Area fog and Pacheco Pass to see San Luis Reservoir and California’s Central Valley ahead, I felt the liberation.
